up at 8am to shoot to practice at 9pm. didn't start til 10pm. at 11pm APT kids left to go practice their APT sets. cleaned cleaned cleaned. APT kids came back at 1:30. Nonstop til 3:15pm. picked up shaun at the airport. turns out his flight was delayed. back to the studio at 5pm.
DRESS REHEARSALS FOR DAY 2 OF URBAN PARADISE. so on the second day of URBAN PARADISE the way it goes is that a hula/tahitian piece goes, then a hiphop one goes and it alternates all through the show. it was a long day.
i'm glad everybody likes PROJECT BANG's set. we got a lot of good feedback, it was pretty reassuring. the other project are amazing also. we all offer a little something different than what people are used to. PEOPLE ARE NOT GONNA BE LET DOWN AT THIS SHOW.
first run through of THE COMPANY's set was blah. it was just a mark run through so i didn't feel the energy or presence i needed to give something good. the second run through however was AMAZING because of the pep-talk pat gave us right before and the idea of the last run through of the day was getting us all hyped. at least for me it was. we went out full force with neck breaking energy. we all cheered for one another the entire time like we were actually on stage. we did so well that auntie malu(pats mom/wspa director) clapped for us and started crying. she said our set was beautiful and was shocked that we've never performed that set before. i know shes excited for us. that was like icing on the cake.
that almost felt like the end of the day. i started changing into a dry tshirt and sipped on a little bit of water. then gen2 practice started.
my feet hurt, i was tired, i couldn't even really see straight. it felt AWESOME to be dancing with gen2 again. even though i see most of these people all the time, getting together as gen2 is definitely something different and something i look for to every year.
while we were running thru the company's set in a another studio, shaun started practice with jino, shanna, aunnie, and alan. they got a head start but that only made me wanna the learn the routine even faster haha.
when we got into the studio for actual practice i was having a pretty hard time. i couldn't really pay the attention i wanted.
1. because i didn't sleep much the night before because the company got out practice late.
2. because it was an extremely long day jampacked with dancing.
3. because the last time we ate was probably around lunch time. it was midnight.
and last but not least 4. pat brought beer.
i only had one at the time. i felt like a lightweight but it was cool. the tiredness and the hunger did something to me. it made me just wanna drink and laugh because of the good people i was with. during some downtime i took a couple sips off another one and it was pretty much the same i just felt better. haha. nothing was sticking to muscle memory like i wanted to.
outside with pat we had a talk about how he can remember so much choreography with details its stupid. i shared my theory about how our minds act like computers. for some reason he can learn something, get details and store it in the hard drive he named "brain." me on the other hand can't remember choreography for anything. i feel as tho everything gets stored into some sort or volatile memory. something like RAM. although my capacity is a pretty great size and at the current place and time i can kill a piece and get it before anyone can. the next day it is completely gone and i have no recollection of even learning choreography. just drinking alcohol haha. that was a funny conversation.
after we finished we sat around, shaun showed us the other pieces for the set and we all got pretty excited. IT IS GONNA BE A GOOD ASS SHOW so whoever is sleeping on it is really gonna miss out.
it is locally 5:08pm and i'm gonna eat, stretch, and work out so that when practice rolls around at 9pm i'm ready. later.
heres the flyer just for the heck of it. DON'T SLEEP ON IT!!!

-mike
